Ryan Smith founded FreightAgents.International to help experienced freight professionals explore U.S. brokerage partnerships with clearer expectations and less pressure. He is also the founder of Purple Squirrel llc, Freight Talent Advocates.
Experience from both sides of the desk
Ryan has more than 14 years of freight industry experience. His career includes working as a sub-agent, building independent freight agency books and founding a freight brokerage. His background spans heavy haul and over-dimensional freight, expedited transportation, and government and military-related freight.
Why brokerage fit matters
Having operated as an agent and brokerage owner, Ryan understands that a commission percentage is only one part of an agency agreement. Carrier coverage, customer credit, operational support, technology, account protections and payment terms can determine whether a program actually works for the producer.
